Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship-Local              Deadline November 5, 2019

The Mexico lodge awards $1,500 to the top qualifying male and female student plus $500 to each runner-up student.  Plus the top places qualify for District/State Competition. YOU DO NOT NEED to be related to an ELKS member, it is an open application.

 

University of Missouri Scholarships      Deadline December 1(must be admitted by this date) and December 15, 2019 for actual scholarships

In order to be considered for scholarships awarded by MU’s College and Schools, as well as endowed scholarship awards, students must complete the MU Annual Scholarship Application. You must have applied for admission to MU by December 1, and incoming freshmen must complete the application by December 15th and continuing/transfer students must complete by February 1st of each year. These awards may be combined with automatic scholarships awarded at the time of admission. For more information on specific scholarships, you may search the Endowed Scholarships Database.  To apply for alumni scholarship program, you must rank in upper 20% of class or have an ACT of 26 or higher, there is a separate application for the alumni scholarship.

 

Belcher Application 2019-2020      Deadline to Guidance Office November 18, 2019 to be submitted at November Board Meeting

MSBA FutureBuilders established the scholarship program in memory of John T. Belcher, who was instrumental in developing innovative financing programs for Missouri school districts. The learning environment for thousands of Missouri’s public school students improved as a result of his work.  A $1000 annual scholarship is awarded to a student in each of MSBA’s 17 regions. Applicants are judged on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities and the quality of an essay. A statewide winner is selected from this group of regional winners and awarded an additional $1500. This application is due Monday, November 18, 2019 to the Guidance Office, it will then be placed in the Board packet for the November School Board Meeting, where a committee will nominate one applicant to represent Van-Far and then complete an online application to be submitted to the MSBA.  There is an essay to complete.  

 

Missouri Soil and Water Scholarship    Deadline December 2, 2019 (the Monday after Thanksgiving)

The Show-Me Chapter offers a $2000 scholarship for a high school senior, or undergraduate, planning to major in conservation or a natural resources-related field.  This is an essay contest. 

 

2020 Pike County Young Farmers HS       Deadline December 18, 2019

Pike County Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers is excited to announce we have $2,000 scholarship(s) to be awarded to high school seniors who attend a Pike County, Missouri school or high school seniors who currently reside in Pike County, Missouri.  Please type the application.  Applications are due to Bowling Green Farm Bureau office or emailed to pcfbyfscholarship@gmail.com by December 18. 

 

Missouri 4H Foundation Scholarships             Scholarship opens January 1, 2020 with a deadline of March 1, 2020 (postmarked)

More than sixty scholarships are available, each ranging from $500 to $2,500. One scholarship application allows the applicant to be considered for any available scholarship, subject to the conditions specified by the donor.

 

Missouri Pork Producers Scholarship              Deadline January 10, 2020

The Missy North Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the late Missy North, wife of Missouri pork producer Bob North. She loved raising pigs, and was very active in the industry. Bob and his family are making the scholarship available to a deserving student aspiring to play a role in the pork industry. They are partnering with the Missouri Pork Association to select candidates. A scholarship in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded at the Missouri Pork Expo on February 11, 2020.

 

National FFA Scholarship Program       Deadline App. Closes – January 15, 2020– 11:59 pm; Supplemental Farmer/Advisor Endorsements(if applicable) are due January 22, 2020

The National FFA Organization provides scholarships designed to fit the diversity of our applicants. Scholarships sponsored by businesses and individuals, through the National FFA Foundation, are awarded to support a wide variety of higher education plans and career goals.  You will need a log in to begin the application process,(ffa.org account).  Please look through the FFA Scholarship Catalog, one application can be used for multiple scholarships, also a student Need NOT be in FFA to apply for some of these scholarships, see specific criteria for each scholarship.

 

US JCI Senate Scholarship Program       Deadline January 24, 2020        

From September to November of each year, each JCI Senate state organization (or foundation) distributes to schools and boards of education throughout their state the necessary application forms for determination of the recipients of scholarship grants. The deadline for return of the completed application forms to the state chairperson is January 24, 2020. If your state is not listed, you are not eligible.   Do not submit the application to any address on the web page except those under the State Scholarship listing section (packages submitted to the wrong address will not be forwarded). Each year the National Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. organization awards forty, $1,500 scholarships to deserving high school seniors.

 

MO State Fair Youth In Ag Scholarship                                     Deadline February 4, 2020

Individuals must have participated in the Missouri State Fair as a youth exhibitor in the FFA or 4-H divisions.  Must be a high school senior active in 4-H or FFA at the time the scholarship is awarded.  An agriculture major is not required, although an additional 5 points will be awarded to applicants majoring in Agriculture.

Some of the most exciting careers available today are in agriculture, on farms and throughout the industry. Farm enterprises, science careers, the vast dairy, grain and livestock industries. Ag has just about everything.  At National Farmers, we are honored to encourage the next generation to chase their ag dreams – and catch them. Westlake Scholarship Program                          Deadline February 1, 2020

The James L. and Nellie M. Westlake Scholarship Foundation was established in 1981 pursuant to the provisions of the wills of James L. and Nellie M. Westlake for the purpose of assisting Missouri residents in pursuing a college education. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited four-year institution of the student's choice.

 

Poet Scholarship        Deadline February 4, 2020

POET Never Satisfied Scholarships are open to students enrolled for Fall Semester 2020 in any two- or four-year post-secondary school, regardless of major or GPA. Never Satisfied Scholars receive up to $5,000 each, and will have the opportunity to visit the POET Sioux Falls campus during the school year.

 

Dr. Darrell "Jack"  Holley Scholarship          Deadline Wednesday, February 5, 2020 to the Guidance Office

The Missouri United School Insurance Council (MUSIC) encourages you to apply for the Dr. Darrell "Jack" Holley/MUSIC Scholarships. The funding of the scholarships is provided by proceeds from the golf tournament and corporate donations. MUSIC members are designated into three enrollment size categories: small, medium and large. Six scholarships (two in each category) of $2,000.00 each (nonrenewable) will be awarded to 2020 graduating seniors of districts that are MUSIC members.   We are a MEDIUM sized school district, and due to only one submission per school district, the deadline is Wednesday, February 5, 2020.  This due date will give a committee time to select the Van-Far Candidate. 

 

2020 Etta Mae Anderson                 Deadline February 14, 2020  YOU MAIL

$5,000  The Etta Mae Anderson Scholarship Fund awards one renewable scholarship to a Ralls County resident, full time student enrolled in an accredited university or college pursuing a career in education, preferably, must have a financial need. You will need letters of reference, and Mrs. Utterback will need to sign off on this application.   

 

2020 Kenneth Gregg Agricultural Scholarship                  Deadline February 14, 2020 YOU MAIL

$1,000  The Kenneth Gregg Estate sponsors the following:  must be resident of Ralls County, Missouri; must use the scholarship as a full-time student in an accredited university or college; students pursuing a career in agriculture will be favored.  You will need letters of reference, and Mrs. Utterback will need to sign off on this application.  

 

Missouri Corn Growers Scholarship      Deadline February 14, 2020

This year, the Missouri Corn Growers Association and Missouri Corn Merchandising Council will award seven deserving college juniors and high school seniors $1000 scholarships for the 2020-2021 school year.  Must be attending a two or four year school in Missouri and pursuing a degree in Agronomy or related field.  

 

Gary Pinkel MADE Scholarship              Deadline Postmarked February 15, 2020 YOU MAIL 

To be eligible the individual must show financial need; possess the motivation to succeed; be of good character.  The applicant must be under the age of 20, a Missouri resident, and a recent high school graduate or will graduate in 2020. The scholarship must be used in the state of Missouri for a higher education program, at a trade school or at a university.

 

MO Association of Rural Education Scholarship Program         Deadline to the Guidance Office February 28, 2020

The scholarship program offered by MARE is open to graduating high school seniors of MARE member school districts.  Van-Far is a MARE Member.  Applicants must have indicated plans to pursue a degree in education.  Only senior students from MARE member school districts are eligible to apply.  Over the past two years, MARE, with support from EdCounsel, LLC has provided forty-five (45) $500.00 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from all over the state.   

 

Booster Club Scholarship                Deadline March 1, 2020

The Van-Far Athletic Booster Club will sponsor a lottery scholarship for graduating seniors.  Please read the scholarship entry guidelines for further criteria.  Applications should be turned in to the Guidance Office.   

 

FCS Financial Scholarship                        Deadline March 1, 2020

FCS Financial is awarding up to 35 scholarships to Missouri high school seniors in 2020. Each scholarship is $1,500. FCS Financial’s scholarship program is for Missouri high school seniors whose parents or grandparents are customers of FCS Financial.

 

Missouri 4-H Foundation Scholarship                 Deadline Postmark after January 1, no later than March 1, 2020

The Missouri 4-H Foundation offers educational scholarships for 4-H youth and former 4-H members pursuing post-secondary study.

More than sixty scholarships are available, each ranging from $500 to $2,500. One scholarship application allows the applicant to be considered for any available scholarship, subject to the conditions specified by the donor.  Applications are accepted after January 1 and are due with a postmark date of March 1 to the state 4-H office. The county due date for applications may be earlier than the March 1 state deadline. After county approval and signature, your application will be mailed to the state 4-H office by your county.


Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies Scholarship           Deadline March 2, 2020

The MAMIC Scholarship program is an opportunity for the members and the association to give back to our communities in Missouri. Each year MAMIC awards 8 scholarships to graduating Missouri high school seniors planning to attend a Missouri college, university, community college, or vocational school. In addition, MAMIC awards 1 scholarship to a college student currently attending any two- or four-year college, university, or vocational school in the state of Missouri.

 

Cowley Scholarship 2020                              Deadline March 4, 2020

Scholarship in memory of former band instructor Bertram Cowley, for those students involved in the Chiefs Marching Band and/or Choir.  Please return application to the guidance office by the deadline.

 

Missouri Bankers Association             Deadline Postmarked March 6, 2020

MBA established the Missouri Bankers Foundation in 1985 to provide funding for college scholarships for high school students planning to pursue banking-related college degrees. The foundation solicits and manages investments and distributes funds to support continuing education for Missouri bankers and students preparing for a career in the banking industry.   

 

2020 Fern Braden Scholarship                                             Deadline March 6, 2020 to the Guidance Office

St. Mary’s Hospital-Audrain Auxiliary  sponsors the following scholarship:  submit application along with two letters of recommendation (from teacher, counselor, or pastor no relatives); recent photo; official school transcript; and hand-written essay of at least 100 words telling about yourself; must attend school of higher education accredited or approved by the State of Missouri; be a full time student with 12 credit hours or more per semester; maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA per semester; remain in the healthcare field.  Return all applications to the Guidance office to be forwarded by the 3-13-20 deadline.

         

2020 Griffin High School Scholarship      Deadline to the Guidance Office March 8, 2020---Mrs. Utterback will need to complete PART A, B & C

Anna Margaret Griffin sponsors the following:  students must be graduating senior from an Audrain county or Montgomery County Missouri school; for students attending vocational and technical colleges and universities with particular emphasis on students pursuing advanced studies in nursing, health related occupations; medical occupations and education; once the recipient received a scholarship the recipient may continue to apply for additional yearly scholarships provided the recipient is enrolled in a college, university, trade or technical school; any student in college, university trade or technical school may apply with preference to those students having graduated from Audrain or Montgomery counties.  Please have completed applications to the Guidance office so they may be forwarded by the deadline.

 

2020 Audrain County Cattlemens                Deadline to the Guidance Office by March 10 to be mailed by March 15, 2020

The Audrain County Cattlemen’s sponsors the following:  Do not have to be a member to apply (BUT have to have a member sponsor you) 2.5 GPA, preference MAY BE given to students attending a Missouri College or University and/or studying agriculture or food production.  Please return to the guidance by the deadline to be mailed/postmarked by March 15 deadline.

 

2020 VFW Auxiliary Scholarship                             Deadline March 10, 2020 

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2173 sponsors the following:  first priority to graduating Seniors, second priority to full-time students; minimum GPA of 2.0.  Return all applications to the Guidance Office.

The Audrain County Students Foundation sponsors the following:  student must reside in Audrain County; will be awarded based on need, sincerity, and probability of successful completion of designated program.  Applications must be returned to the Guidance Office by the deadline.

There are 2 $2,500 scholarships to be given, preference given to, but not restricted to, non-traditional students for use of furthering the Applicant's education.

 

2020 MFA Scholarship        Deadline to the Guidance Office March 10, 2020

The MFA Foundation sponsors the following:  the committee considers:  applicant’s interest in furthering his/her education by engaging in studies relating to agriculture or other fields of study that benefit rural life; applicant’s participation and leadership in school, church, and community activities; reputation for good citizenship and good moral character; financial need, sources of income and willingness to work; satisfactory academic progress.  Scholarship may be used at any accredited college or university to pursue any course of study.  Recipients must be enrolled in school as a full time student by September 1 or funds will be allocated to the runner-up.  Mrs. Utterback will need to fill in part of this application, and you will need to attach a photo.  Please make sure you have all necessary information to complete the application.   Applications due to the Guidance by or on March 10, 2020 to the Guidance Office.

 

2020 Audrain Agribusiness Scholarship                                      Deadline to Guidance Office March 10, 2020

Criteria:  Open to any senior living in Audrain County planning to study in an Ag-related field at the college of their choice.  One page essay required to apply.  Application due March 10, 2020 to be mailed/postmarked by the March 15 deadline.

 

2020 VF Alumni                     Brookshier Essay Forms                        Deadline March 13, 2020

The Van-Far Alumni and Friends sponsors the following:  awarded to a graduating Van-Far Senior, who has enrolled as a full-time student; selection is based on need, sincerity, scholastic achievement, and the probability of the student following through with their educational plans; must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher; include a high school transcript.  There is also 1-$1250 scholarship renewable for 4 years.  Additionally,  there will be 2 scholarships given in memory of Alan Dee Adam and will be based on the following:  involvement in the the Van-Far FFA; excellence with the ACT or attendance at a vocational training program.  And, 1 scholarship to a student pursuing a degree in education in memory of Zandra Dowell, former VF librarian; 1 scholarship from the Class of 1961; 1 in memory of former Guidance Counselor, Elaine Brookshier; 2 in memory of Shirley Forgy, long time Elementary teacher and 1-2 from the general fund.  Applications must be returned to the Guidance on/before the March 13 deadline.  Please fill out the Essay form if you are applying for the Elaine Brookshier scholarship.

Missouri Credit Union Scholarship                                         Deadline March 20, 2020

Beginning January 2, 2019, MCU will accept applications for the scholarships. High school seniors graduating in spring of 2019 are eligible. The recipients will receive the scholarship funds for use toward the four-year college or university of their choice, or a two-year technical school of their choice.

Applicant selection will be based on:

  1. Financial need;
  2. Scholastic achievement; and
  3. Extracurricular activities.

The Farmers & Laborers Co-Op Insurance Association sponsors the following:  give a summary of why you have chosen your trade or profession, attach copy of high school transcript and include attendance records, summary of high school extra-curricular activities and awards, include a photo.  Applications must be returned to the Guidance office on/before the deadline.

2020 NAIFA Scholarship                      Deadline to the Guidance Office March 25, 2020

Graduating high school seniors from specific high schools in our area are eligible to apply for the $500 scholarship, to be used for post-high school education at a college, university, technical or trade school.  The money may be used for tuition, books or other related expenses, and will be paid to the institution for the benefit of the recipient. Applicants will be asked to submit an essay on a pre-determined topic that pertains to insurance or financial services.   Essay Topic:  The Importance of Insurance and Financial Planning

 

Missouri Insurance Eduation Foundation Scholarship                     Deadline March 25, 2020

At MIEF we are dedicated to:promoting public insurance education; improving consumer understanding and perception of insurance matters; providing early and continuing "grass roots" education about insurance.                                                                   

 

Northeast Missouri County Medical Society Scholarship                      Deadline to the Guidance Office March 25, 2020

Scholarship is for a Senior student who is going to be pursuing a career in medicine (Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine). Any student, who plans on attending college with plans to on on to medical school to be a physician, is eligible.

 

2020 Rotary Scholarship                                              Deadline to the Guidance Office March 27, 2020

The Vandalia Rotary Club sponsors the following: available for students to attend any vocational/trade school, college or university to improve their education; students cannot be children of Rotarians; scholarship will be awarded for one year only and will be based on need, sincerity, community service and the probability of following through with educational plans. This scholarship is $1,000. Applications are to be returned to the Guidance Office by the deadline.

 

2020 Michael DeppeMemorial Scholarship                 Deadline to Guidance Office March 27, 2020

The Michael Deppe Trust sponsors the following:  available to any graduating senior who plans to attend any school to improve his/her education; will be awarded on the basis of need, sincerity, and probability of the applicant following through with his/her plans; include high school transcript.    This scholarship is $500.  Applications must be returned to the Guidance Office by the deadline.

 

2020 Lions Club Scholarship                                 Deadline to the Guidance Office March 27, 2020

This one time non-renewable scholarship is sponsored by the Lions Club, Vandalia.  Selection criteria is as follows:  25% on GPA and/or class stading(rank); 25% on Curriculum; 20% on Extracurricular activities; 10% ACT/SAT score; 10% Financial Need; 10% Work Activities.  This scholarship is $500.  Applications must be returned to Guidance Office.

MACC provides several scholarship opportunities from institutional and private sources to assist you with your educational expenses. We strongly recommend that you take the time to read and understand all the information provided for each scholarship. Understanding and thoughtful planning now will benefit you throughout college and beyond.

 

2020 Shelter Insurnace Scholarship                                         Deadline March 31, 2020

Shelter Insurance/Frankie Wallace sponsors the following:  must be a graduating senior; selection based on applicant’s scholastic achievement, participation and leadership in school and community activities, citizenship, moral character and educational goals; children of any Shelter Insurance Agent or employee are NOT eligible; must enroll in a college/university by the September following his/her high school graduation.  Return all completed applications to Guidance office by due date.


 

United Credit Union Scholarship 2020         Deadline to the Guidance Office, Tuesday March 31 or you mail drop off yourself by the April 1 deadline to any United Credit Union Branch, or email application to mahrens@unitedcu.org 

The United Credit Union Scholarship awards $1,000 scholarships to eight area students every May. In order to qualify, the individual must be a member of UCU, planning to attend a school of advanced education, have maintained an overall high school grade point average of at least 2.75, must have good citizenship and leadership characteristics, as well as be active in school and community activities.

2020 Hays                          Deadline to the Guidance Office April 3, 2020

The Jefferson Leon & Dorothea Ann Hays Trust sponsors the following:  must be a graduating senior of Van-Far High School; students may attend any college; any interested student may complete the application; will be awarded on need, sincerity, and the probability of successful completion of the student’s program of study; include high school transcript, SAT,ACT score, and GPA.  Applications must be returned to the Guidance Office by the deadline.

 

2020 Culwell                    Deadline to the Principal's Office April 3, 2020

The Raymond B. & Genevieve Culwell Trust sponsors the following:  needy Van-Far students of high scholastic promise regardless of race, creed, color, sex or national origin who reside within a fifteen mile radius of Vandalia MO  at the time of selection; student must have maintained superior grades in high school and must be pursuing study in fields of Arts, Business, Engineering, or Science at an accredited college or university in the state of Missouri; any degree resulting in a BS or BA would be considered eligible; attach a high school transcript, SAT or ACT score.  Return all applications to the Principal’s Office by the deadline. 

 

2020 MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE Scholarship                             Deadline to Guidance Office  April 5, 2020

Criteria:  verified participant  of a local church; verified standing within graduating class; verified college/university/trade school to be attended; verified gross family income; verification from school counselor; letter of recommendation from your pastor/church leader/officer within in your church where you are a member.  Applications due to guidance office.

This scholarship was created in loving memory of Tanner Eugene Lowrance who graduated from Van-Far High School 2008.  The scholarship is available to a Van-Far Senior with a 2.75 or higher GPA and wishes to further their education.  The scholarship will be awarded on personality, charm, heart, character, school activities, community leadership and grades.  Please return all applications to the Guidance Office.

 

2020 Central Bank of Audrain County Scholarship              Deadline April 10, 2020 to the Guidance Office

Central Bank of Audrain County sponsors the following: graduating senior of Van-Far High School; include high school transcript with ACT scores and attendance.  Applications must be returned to the Guidance Office by the deadline, 3 p.m.

The Ed French Charitable Foundation sponsors the following: scholarship is limited to graduating seniors who live in specific boundaries of Farber and Laddonia; check with your counselor for the specific boundaries.  Return to the Guidance Office

Van-Far School District will choose one candidate from applications submitted to represent our school in the East Central Administrators Scholarship competition.  An essay and letters of recommendation letters are required with application.

The Masonic Scholarship Fund of Missouri, Inc. proudly offers three different scholarships to Missouri high school students. These scholarships are available to students graduating this year from a Missouri high school, seeking to attend an accredited institution or higher education anywhere                                                    

 2019 Alethea Club                                      Deadline April 2, 2019

In memory of Shad Talbert and Elizabeth Long, the Alethea Club sponsors a scholarship of $250 that will be awarded to a Van-Far R-I High School senior who will be enrolling as a freshman at a college, university, junior college, or a trade school.

 

 Bailey Dyke Band Choir Scholarship                                     Deadline April 5, 2019

The Bailey Dyke Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by her family.  Qualifications include being a member of the Chief's marching band or choir.  There will be two scholarships in the amount of $500 each given this year.  

        

 2019 Red Cross                            Deadline to Mrs. Robinson  April 5, 2019

The Van-Far Student Council sponsors a scholarship from the American Red Cross.  The Blood Drive held March 11, 2019 earned our school a scholarship due to the amount of units of blood collected.  

 

2019 Les Nelson Scholarship                                       Deadline April 12, 2019

This scholarship was created in honor of Les Nelson, a long time Van-Far resident who was always involved in agriculture. The student selected will be pursuing a college degree with a major in agriculture. In addition they will have demonstrated strengths in agriculture courses in high school, community service and activities, extra-curricular activities, overall leadership capabilities, work experience, and will have a financial need.

The Van-Far Teacher's Association sponsors a scholarship, criteria include:  must have worked A VFTA Carnival in the past, also you must interview with the committee, appropriate attire is required.  Interviews will be April 29-May 1, please consider these days when scheduling work.

                                    

 EMO Conference Scholarship                                                Deadline May 1, 2019

Eligibility – to be considered for the scholarship, a student must be a senior who has participated in EMO conference events while in high school and been recognized at least twice by the conference. This includes having been a participant in EMO Band, EMO Choir, and/or been a first or second team all-conference athlete or academic bowl competitor. Each year and each award is totaled separately (i.e. – four years of EMO Band participation counts as four recognitions).   There will be one female and one male from our school for nomination.
