Local Scholarships for the Class of 2019

 

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship-Local              Deadline November 15, 2018 

The Mexico lodge awards $1,500 to the top qualifying male and female student plus $500 to each runner-up student.  Plus the top places qualify for District/State Competition. 

 

John Belcher Scholarship       Deadline to Guidance Office December 5, 2018

MSBA FutureBuilders established the scholarship program in memory of John T. Belcher, who was instrumental in developing innovative financing programs for Missouri school districts. The learning environment for thousands of Missouri’s public school students improved as a result of his work.  A $1000 annual scholarship is awarded to a student in each of MSBA’s 17 regions. Applicants are judged on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities and the quality of an essay. A statewide winner is selected from this group of regional winners and awarded an additional $1500. This application is due December 5, 2018 to the Guidance Office, it will then be placed in the Board packet for the December School Board Meeting, where a committee will nominate one applicant to represent Van-Far and then complete an online application to be submitted to the MSBA.

 

University of Missouri Scholarships      Deadline December 1(must be admitted by this date) and December 15, 2018 for actual scholarships

In order to be considered for scholarships awarded by MU’s College and Schools, as well as endowed scholarship awards, students must complete the MU Annual Scholarship Application. You must have applied for admission to MU by December 1, and incoming freshmen must complete the application by December 15th and continuing/transfer students must complete by February 1st of each year. These awards may be combined with automatic scholarships awarded at the time of admission. For more information on specific scholarships, you may search the Endowed Scholarships Database.  To apply for alumni scholarship program, you must rank in upper 20% of class or have an ACT of 26 or higher, there is a separate application for the alumni scholarship.

 

Pike County Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers      Deadline December 15

Pike County Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers is excited to announce we have $2,000 scholarship(s) to be awarded to high school seniors who attend a Pike County, Missouri school or high school seniors who currently reside in Pike County, Missouri.  Please type the application.  Applications are due to Bowling Green Farm Bureau office or emailed to pcfbyfscholarship@gmail.com by December 15. 

 

MO State Fair Youth In Ag Scholarship      Deadline February 1, 2019 postmarked

Individuals must have participated in the Missouri State Fair as a youth exhibitor in the FFA or 4-H divisions.  Must be a high school senior active in 4-H or FFA at the time the scholarship is awarded.  An agriculture major is not required, although an additional 5 points will be awarded to applicants majoring in Agriculture.  

 

Dr. Darrell "Jack"  Holley Scholarship          Deadline February 15 to the Guidance Office

The Missouri United School Insurance Council (MUSIC) encourages you to apply for the Dr. Darrell "Jack" Holley/MUSIC Scholarships. The funding of the scholarships is provided by proceeds from the golf tournament and corporate donations. MUSIC members are designated into three enrollment size categories: small, medium and large. Six scholarships (two in each category) of $2,000.00 each (nonrenewable) will be awarded to 2019 graduating seniors of districts that are MUSIC members.   We are a MEDIUM sized school district, and due to only one submission per school district, the deadline is Friday, February 15, 2019.  This due date will give a committee time to select the Van-Far Candidate. 

 

National FFA Scholarship Program    Deadline App. Closes – Feb. 6, 2019 – 11:59 pm; Supplemental Farmer/Advisor Endorsements(if applicable) are due Feb. 13, 2019

The National FFA Organization provides scholarships designed to fit the diversity of our applicants. Scholarships sponsored by businesses and individuals, through the National FFA Foundation, are awarded to support a wide variety of higher education plans and career goals.  You will need a log in to begin the application process,(ffa.org account).  Please look through the FFA Scholarship Catalog, one application can be used for multiple scholarships, also a student Need NOT be in FFA to apply for some of these scholarships, see specific criteria for each scholarship.  I have printed the 2019 scholarship catalog and made copies and placed them in Mr. Stuedle's classroom.

 

National Farm Kids For College Scholarship     Deadline Februray 28, 2019 to the State Coordinator

Some of the most exciting careers available today are in agriculture, on farms and throughout the industry. Farm enterprises, science careers, the vast dairy, grain and livestock industries. Ag has just about everything.  At National Farmers, we are honored to encourage the next generation to chase their ag dreams – and catch them. Part of how we at National Farmers do that, is through the national Farm Kids for College Scholarship.  APPLICATION GETS TURNED INTO STATE COORDINATOR, EUNICE FISHER, 405 E MARTIN, PERRY MO  63462  (573)565-2004 BY DUE DATE OF FEBRUARY 28, 2019

 

Missouri 4-H Foundation Scholarship                 Deadline Postmark after January 1, no later than March 1, 2019

The Missouri 4-H Foundation offers educational scholarships for 4-H youth and former 4-H members pursuing post-secondary study.

More than sixty scholarships are available, each ranging from $500 to $2,500. One scholarship application allows the applicant to be considered for any available scholarship, subject to the conditions specified by the donor.

Applications are accepted after January 1 and are due with a postmark date of March 1 to the state 4-H office. The county due date for applications may be earlier than the March 1 state deadline. After county approval and signature, your application will be mailed to the state 4-H office by your county.

 

Missouri Farm Bureau Scholarship                Deadline March 15, 2019

United Credit Union Scholarship                  Deadline to the Credit Union or On-Line April 1, 2019  YOU SUBMIT DO NOT TURN IN TO GUIDANCE

The United Credit Union Scholarship awards $1,000 scholarships to eight area students every May. In order to qualify, the individual must be a member of UCU, planning to attend a school of advanced education, have maintained an overall high school grade point average of at least 2.75, must have good citizenship and leadership characteristics, as well as be active in school and community activities
