Character Word for February is Courteousness

 

Bus 5 will be running late again today after school. Students need to wait in the cafeteria.

 

Please release all varsity basketball players from class at 1:50 today so they can get ready for the bus leaving for today’s district basketball game in Clopton.   

 

Quiz Bowl members we will be leaving today at 2:15 with the basketball team.  You will be released from class at 2.  We are heading to Silex for a 4:30 meet. Mrs. Winders

 

This week is National FFA Week. The following are the dress-up days for the week.
Wednesday: Western Wear Wednesday
Thursday: Thankful Thursday - wear a hat for a $1. Officer will be by door to collect money
Friday: FFA Friday - FFA t-shirt/hoodie day and drive your tractor to school

 

There will be no after school weights this week due to dead week.  Mr. 

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors, Truman State University will be here at lunch Wednesday, February 26.  

 

Baseball practice will start March 2 at 3:30pm at the elementary school. 

 

JH Student Council will have a meeting during IM in Mrs. Robinson's room on February 25th.  All members need to attend.  Check in with your IM teacher first.

 

Attention Sophomores, if you are interested in attending Vo-Tech next year, please stop by the front office or the Guidance office to pick up an application.  Forms must be returned to Mrs. Utterback on or by March 6. 

 

All HS STUCO members need to stop by Mrs. Robinson's room sometime by the end of this month to sign up for a Blood Drive shift and get your donor sheets.  Please come by in between classes or during IM.  

 

NJHS will have a meeting during IM in Mrs. Robinson's room on March 3rd.  All members need to attend and check in with your IM teacher first.

 

NHS induction is March 4th at 6pm.  This is a formal occasion, so please wear dress clothes and plan on attending.   We will be serving dessert.  All NHS, inductees, and their families are invited. 

 

All junior high and high school track members - you can order a short or long sleeve track shirt prior to the season.  Order forms are available in Mrs. Winders room.  They are due Friday, Feb. 28th.  Short sleeve shirts are $10.  Long sleeve shirts are $12.

 

Yearbooks are $40 through February 28th. After next week, the price increases again. Beginning in March, your yearbook costs $46. Get your yearbook NOW before the price goes up! 

 

Seniors – Yearbook needs your money and pictures for your senior ad by February 28th or you will not have the space in the yearbook.  See Mrs. McCurdy ASAP to get this taken care of.

 

Hart Career Center Open house has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. If you are interested in a program at votech this is the time to go check it out and talk with instructors. 

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors:  Mock Interviews are scheduled for March 3rd. Please begin updating your resume. You should have an invitation in Google classroom for Mock Interviews. You will submit your resume here. Resumes must be submitted by 2/28. Continue to check Google Classroom for more information and a schedule as we post the schedule on Google Classroom and the bulletin board across from the office there when complete.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. McCurdy or Mr. Stuedle.

 

The Vandalia Family Aquatic Center is accepting applications for summer employment at the pool beginning March 2nd.  If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard, spending the summer outdoors, and getting a decent tan, please go to City Hall and get an application.  You can also see Mrs. Robinson.

 

Vandalia Youth ball is looking for umpires for the summer season.  Must be 15 years old to apply.  Applications are on the ledge at the office. Applications maybe returned to Van-Far Elementary or Ramsey Dickerman’s State Farm office.

 

Vandalia Khoury league registration is Feb. 13 to March 16, 2020.  There are application forms on the ledge at the office.  Forms and fees maybe returned to the Elementary School or Ramsey Dickerman’s State Farm office.

FFA Community Breakfast will start serving at 6:00 am.

ACT test will be given at Van-Far at 8:00 am.

District VB basketball away at Clopton vs Elsberry at 4:00 pm. Bus leaves at 2:15.

Scholar Bowl meet away at Silex at 4:30 pm. Bus leaves at 2:15.
